Guest Groups: Construction Chic

My son is a building vehicle fiend. If it digs, drags, destroys or forces, then it’s because of him. And from what I hear, he’s not alone. These mighty machines seem to be loved by little (and big) men almost universally. In a bid to give the children what they need, but still keep a sense of style, I have rounded up 20 finds to add a few industrial chic to a child’s space.

Stephanie Morgan out of Modern Parents Messy Kids

Modern Wall Letters – GBP 53.75

Monograms are a great way to customize a child’s space. This 3D structure version is created of a gravel-textured coating with toy diggers, dumper trucks and even workmen. My favourite parts are the muddy tracks leading off the print and onto the mat board — almost like the machines are active working while your child slumbered.

“Lunch Atop a Skyscraper” Mounted Print by Mike Stimpson – $76

This is such a trendy spin on the famous 1932 photograph taken by Charles Ebbets, and you can not fail with LEGO decor. Do children ever really outgrow them?

Bulldozer Tractor Construction Vinyl Wall Decal by DecoMOD Walls – $16

The huge scale and modern lines of this wall decal make for a flexible focal point the kids won’t quickly outgrow. Plus it’s available in lots of colors and can be personalized with a child’s name or personal message.

Crane and Trucks Vinyl Decal Sticker by DecoMOD Walls – $42

This is another decal from DecoMOD Walls, equally as beautiful as the Bulldozer Tractor. Overlapping the machines and crane gives the scene a nice degree of dimension.

Digger with Dots on Pink Wall Art – $58

Who says trucks are only for boys? With the photographed digger juxtaposed against a bright pop of pink, this print has some thing for all your littles — regardless of gender. It’s the ideal pick for your playroom.

Small Digger Photographic Print by Suzanne Robertson – $22.03

The vivid colours of this print makes this machine appear positively lively.

Red Dump Truck Photographic Print by Suzanne Robertson – $22.03

Can there be anything more quintessentially boy compared to a large, shiny red truck?

The Kauffman Center Construction Kansas City by Rob Webster Photography – $30

This print of a partially finished construction job is a wonderfully vivid piece. I love the idea of my little boy viewing it in his room every day and being motivated to construct masterpieces of his own.

Cosmetic Grader Model by Countryside Gifts LLC – $39.95

When not being used, wooden toys positioned on a shelf create beautiful wall art. I enjoy how this scraper goes a step beyond the standard dump truck.

Marsia Holzer Studio

Mica Pendant

The best technique for creating a motif room a youngster won’t quickly outgrow is not to be too overt. This industrial-style lighting would seem amazing hanging over a work table at a playroom — particularly when coupled with a few of the prints contained here.

Modern Stop Sign Kid Art Print by I Heart Kid Art – $17

The bright colours of this print would be a beautiful jumping-off point for a more gender-neutral structure space.

16″ 4-Drawer Side Locker – Yellow – $619.99

Using instrument boxes as storage is a fashionable and practical approach to integrate some structure into the decor. Yellow models are my favourite, but cherry red, sleek silver or jet black are also enjoyable choices.

House 8810

Hardware Store Alphabet Wall Cards – $25

These extra big tool-themed decoration cards would look great mounted as a large grid on the wall. To get a smaller installation, you might also use them to spell out your child’s name or even a entertaining message like”children at work.”

MULTIBLOCKS Brainy Blocks – $38

These wood blocks remind me of a tape measure. They’d seem fantastic piled as bookends or just piled atop a dresser when not being used.

The Land of Nod

Construction Zone Bedding – $109

I fell in love when I watched this structure collection. The color combination is very cheerful and modern.

The Land of Nod

Bulldozer Throw Pillow – $24

Do not wish to go for motif bedding for fear of your child outgrowing it? These building vehicle pillows goes very well with a solid duvet or comforter. My son would be in heaven falling asleep each night on a cement mixer or an excavator.

Toolbox Poster by Creative Neesh – $40

By itself, this print doesn’t exactly scream”kid art,” but it would look fantastic in conjunction with a few of the additional finds here.

DUKTIG Work Bench – $79.99

This very simple workbench is a fine blend of practical toy and clean, modern style.

Baby Crib Mobile Baby Mobile by Drops of Color – $80

This Etsy locate is perfect for the littlest builder on your life.

Restoration Hardware Baby & Child

Vintage Cafeteria Play Table – $949

If you truly wish to go all in with the children’s industrial vibe, then look no farther than this wonderful art table. I love how it manages to make stark, industrial fashion look somehow lively.
