No longer only a standard white box which sits at the corner of your kitchen, refrigerators today come in a number of styles and shapes to fit almost any room. While the measurements of fridges vary somewhat among manufacturers, the typical external measurements remain constant.
Side-by-Side
In side-by-side fridges, the freezer along with the new food compartments each run from the surface into the bottom of the fridge parallel to one another and with their own doors. The typical side-by-side fridge is 35 inches wide, 30 inches deep and 71 inches high. With the doors open to 90 degrees, the fridge is 45 inches deep.
Top/Bottom Freezers
Refrigerators with the freezer on the top or the bottom have comparable measurements, to within 1 inch, so in the freezer takes around one third of the entire fridge space. The typical dimensions of top or bottom freezer fridges are a width of 29 inches, a depth of 31 inches and a height of 66 or 67 inches. The doorway includes 27 inches into the thickness of the fridge when it is open to 90 degrees.
Ooh La La!
French-door version fridges combine the side-by-side model with the bottom-freezer style, but they’ve a drawer deep unit. Some versions have two bottom drawer freezers. The typical width and height of this manner of fridge are 68 inches and 35 inches, respectively, with a depth of 29 inches.
